GENERAL DISCRIPTION
The Ukrainian Levkoy is a cat of very original appearance, hairless and with folded ears. These cats are of medium size, the body is rather long, muscular and slender of rectangular format. The bare skin of Levkoy is soft and hot, it is excessive, elastic and wrinkled. Levkoy cat’s peculiar features are: special angular contour of its head and “stepped” profile (dogface appearance) folded ears and by large, but not well wide opened, almond-shaped eyes. They are very friendly and active. The cats express sexual dimorphism.
Head: Alonged modified wedgeshaped. From the top view angle head of Levkoy resembles a soft outlined pentagon that is a little longer than it is broad, where the muzzle lenth is only 1/3 part of the head. The forehead is rather low and the skull is long and flat. Prominent cheekbones and eyebrows form the angular outlines of the head.
Profile is “stepped” – of two levels. The upper lines of nose bridge and of the head are almost parallel.
Nose: Not long and broad, with slight step up on the eyes level.
Muzzle: Not long, is slightly rounded, with clear muzzle break.
Whiskers: Curly, may be shortly snapped. Or none at all.
Neck: Of medium length, muscular, slightly arches from the shoulder to the base of the base of the skull.
Ears: Rather large, set high and wide apart. 1/2 or 1/3 part of each ear is roundly folded forward and down, without touching the head. Remarcable part of Ukrainian Levkoy cats may have straight ears . They are nessesary for succesfull breeding of Ukrainian levkoys. Eyes: Large, but not wide opened almond shaped, set slanted any colors allowed, but it should be pure and deep.
Body: Medium to long, muscular, slender, not massive or coarse. Back line slightly arched.
Chest: Not broad, of oval shape.
Legs: Rather long, strong boned, in proportion to the body.
Paws: Oval, with long mobile toes.
Taill: Rather long, flexible, tapering to the tip, in proportional to the body of cat.
Skin and coat:
Skin is thick “excessive” elastic and wrinkled on the head, above and under the eyes, on the neck, belly, legs and the groin. Preferable are the hairless cats.
COAT: totally bare skin is preferable. But young cats, or show cats of the first period of selection may have remnants of fur on points or be evenly coated with short (1-3 mm) velour fur all over the body. For breeding purposes cats of “brush” variation are acceptable having coarser curly fur all over the body with possible bare are as on head, neck, back; as well as cats with soft, curly, modified (synthetic) fur.
Color: All colors are accepted Tabby cats, are not differentiated by pattern.
Penalize: Too Short round head, round eyes, short “cobby” body, weak chin, stressful behavior.
Disqualify: Defects of the born structures, one or both eyeliner’s turn in ward; crossed eyes. Other disqualify in accordance with the show rules.
Outcross with other breeds: Don Sphynx, Scottish Fold, Peterbold, Houshold Cats, fenotypically correspond to the morphologicall type of Ukrainian Levkoy.

Ukrainian Levkoy is one of the newest cat breeds currently in existence. In fact it is recognized only by few of the cat fanciers associations around the world and is seen predominantly in the east European country of Ukraine. Very few (no more than 100-150 cats) of these cats exist in other countries. Work on the Ukrainian Levkoy began at the beginning of twenty first century when it was felt there was a need for a cat of Ukrainian origin with a distinct appearance, particularly desirable for some breeders. After continuous efforts, finally in early 2004, first Ukrainian Levkoy kittens were born through crossing of a lop-eared male Faldey of Ladacats with a female Donskoy Sphynx cat Ladacats Leda. More then 350 Ukrainian levkoys have been born since then and are currently registered mainly in Ukraine and Russia.
Ukrainian Levkoys have a very unique appearance. They resemble Sphynx cats but have ears somewhat like those of Scottish Folds. They are medium sized felines with a long and sleek body. Head is long and flat on top with an angular and stepped face that is almost dog-like. Eyes are big, almond shaped and occur in a variety of bright colors. Distinguishing feature of these elegant cats is their ears that are folded frontally downward. In fact Ukrainian Levkoys derive their name from the Levkoy plant, that has bent leaves, owing to their ears. Tail and legs are long and paws are oval in shape.
The other striking feature of these stylish cats is their coat. They have a thick and elastic skin and is often wrinkled if the cat is not in a fully stretched position. It is even said to be excessive over certain body parts. Hair are either very short and coarse, with uniform or patchy distribution, or entirely absent. Not much is understood about Ukrainian Levkoys at present to indicate the presence of any hereditary medical condition in their lines. They are healthy and active cats and are said to be leading a normal life with the handful of breeders and families they are with at this point in time. They are gentle and friendly animals who go along well with all family members. Like all cats they are playful and enjoy the company of their humans. It is still early days in their development as a breed, but for their remarkable appearance alone, with time Ukrainian Levkoys are sure to make a lasting impression on cat fanciers all over the world.

The Ukrainian Levkoy is recent man-made breed (2000–2011), originally developed by Elena Biriukova in Ukraine. Created by crossing or by out breeding of the hairless Donskoy Sphinx females with Scottish Fold Metis males, the Ukrainian Levkoy has a distinct and unique appearance. There were used two spontaneous Dominant mutations gene FD of cats with folded ears, that appeared in a simple domestic cat in Scotland and a spontaneous natural Dominant mutation of hairlessness or boldness of domestic cats gene BD in Russia, that appeared in the last century in Scotland and in Russia. Also in mating there were used Oriental and Domestic cats to obtain the others required individual characteristics of Ukrainian levkoys as the cat breed.The breed is recognized in 2005 in Ukraine by ICFA RUI “ROLANDUS UNION INTERNATIONAL” such as it was starting in Russia in 2010 by ICFA WCA too. In Ukraine starting in September 2010 to Ukrainian levkoys may be awarded the CHAMPION title and they can take part in competition THE BEST IN SHOW. Nowadays there are mqre than 20 Ukrainian levkoys who are gifted the title of Champion and The Best in Show . In Russia the first titles of CHAMPION and The Best in Show was gifted in 2011.The others Felinological organizations are mating this new breed Ukrainian Levkoy as an experimental breed without Champions titles at the Cats Exhibitions. Ukrainian levkoys are friendly, playful, intelligent cats. Levkoys are very sociable cats, enjoying human or family company as well as the company of other domestic pets (e.g., dogs, rats, pigs). The remarkable part of Ukrainian levkoys does not have folded ears because the breed mating guides with the rule of heterozygous form on folded ears pairing. So it is for one of the parents of Ukrainian levkoy kittens must be without the Dominant gene FD and must have only normal straight ears. The other parent must have folded ears as it has in their genotype the Dominant gene FD in heterozygous form too. All kitten Straight eared have not any Dominant FD gene. The Straights variety of Ukrainian levkoy breed is the complemented helping part of the breed. The same rule of mating it is used in the Scottish fold breed mating because the both breeds are based on the same Dominant gene FD. The average litter size is generally three to five kittens, that need constant attention for about 16 weeks. Absolutely naked kittens need especial attention, because they tend to be weaker than the others. Adult Levkoys are very healthy cats though, and tend to be active. History Work on breed creation has been begun in 2000. Sketches of appearance of a cat, definition of breed and a choice of the genotypes reflecting a phenotype were executed by Elena Vsevolodovna Birjukova (nursery "Ladacats", Kyiv, Ukraine, ICFA RUI Rolandus Union International). The first, registered Breeding commission ICFA RUI a cat the Ukrainian Levkoy, on a nickname "Levkoy Primero" was born on January, 21st, 2004. In 2008 in various the organisations of Ukraine and Russia it is registered more than 200 individuals of cats of this breed, the Ukrainian Levkoy much of them in the fourth generation. Some tens cats already live outside of the former USSR.[2]

FRUIT OF THE IMAGINATION This is not a bat. Nor a alien creature. It’s a cat. Precisely the Ukrainian Levkoy, cat breed that aroused from a feline model literally drawn by the idealizer, the Russian Elena Biryukova. Living in Ukraine has more than 50 years, Elena breeds cats has 18 years. In 2000, she gained from a friend one Don Sphinx, Russian breed without coat. Impressed with the different look of the cat, she started to imagine how could became still more bizarre. With a pencil and paper in the hand, she scraped the new and very pitoresc feline. He would have ears folded forward, reminds the ones of the Scottish Fold breed, but bigger, not too much approached to the head nor to much close each other. The cat also should have wrinkles, absence of coat, slender physical (structure), elongated body, angled head and almond eyes. She knew that mixture the Don Sphinx with the Scottish Fold wouldn’t be enough, since these breeds haven’t all of these glimpsed (idealized) features. Elena would need prepare the ancestral to the boldness project. She selected individuals of the Don Sphinx that most close to her purpose and mixtured them with cats of Peterbald breed, marked for the almost absence of the coat. Simultaneously (In parallel), she worked with the selection of Scottish Fold’s individuals and with the mixture among them and Orientals and cats without defined breed. Almost five years goes by (passed) until she obtained a couple of cats whose the appearance promised to give life the cat of the drawing. The female came from your matings working with the Don Sphinx. The male, from the bloodline of the Scottish Fold. They mate themselves (each other). In January of 2004, was born the pioneer litter. They were three little cats. All of them presented desirable characteristics. But one in special close itself still more to model illustrated by Elena. It was called Levkoy Primero and become itself the percursor (the father) of the breed. Since there, new matings had been done. Although rare, the Ukrainian Levkoy is already bred for around 15 breeders, all in Russia and Ukraine. It is also counts with a specialized society, the Catteries Union of Hairless Fold Cats of Ukrainian Levkoy Breed, and with the official recognition of the International Cat Fanciers Association Rolandus Union International association little known, but with international acting. The current population of the breed in 2006 is calculated between 50 and 60 cats. GENERAL DESCRIPTION: Ukrainian Levkoy – an original form a naked lop-eared cat with the semi-put ears - "petals", with a well-muscled body of a rectangular format and excessive folded skin. Characteristic of Ukrainian Levkoys is angular outlines the head with a two-levels "step" profile, big, but by rather narrowly open almond-shaped eyes and the ears which top part is bent by a smooth wave forward and down without touching a skull, giving to the Ukrainian Levkoy charm "cats - a floret". Ukrainian Levkoys are very sociable, attached to the person cats. Sexual dimorphism is expressed.
HEAD: in the form of the modified wedge of the average size. At a look from above the head reminds soft outlines a pentagon, longer, than wide. Two thirds of length of the head are the share of cranial part and one third – of a muzzle. The relief, a well outlined cheekbones and eyes bone arches give to the head angular outlines. Forehead low, flat. Nose of average length, direct, rather narrow. Profile is as a two-levels - "step". Lines of a back of a nose and the top part of the head are almost parallel. Neck of average length slightly arched, in a proportion to a body, brawny.
MUZZLE: roundish, it is rather designated, with a lung the pinchy. Vibrissa waved, but can be absent or shortly break off. The chin strong, is rather developed, not mown and not acting.
EYES: big, the almond-shaped form, slightly slantwise put, rather narrowly open. Color of eyes is allowed any, deep and saturated color it is more preferable
EARS: rather big, wide in the basis, widely and highly put. 1/2 – 1/3 part of an ear is bent forward and down by a smooth wave, tips of ears soft, rounded off, the easy lateral sinuosity (a double folded) without any tauching to a skull and not closing an auricle is desirable
TRUNK: from an average to long, brawny, a thorax roundish and rather narrow, the croup is well rounded. Frame strong
FEET and PAWS: feet in a proportion to a trunk, strong. Paws oval with long, mobile fingers
TAIL: rather long, equal, in a proportion to a body, flexible, evenly being narrowed
COLOUR: any is allowed, tabby colors aren't divided on a drawing sample. Color of eyes in harmony with a color, is more preferable deep and saturated color
INTEGUMENT: there are four main variations. The preference is given naked.
"Naked": wool completely is absent. Skin elastic, "excessive" with numerous folds on the head, a neck, in armpits and in a groin. "Rubber", hot and sticky to the touch.
Variation "flock": rudimentary wool on all body, reminding a ripe peach to the touch. At young animals the muzzle, feet and a tail can be covered with "residual" wool. As a rule, such hairs drop out at adult age.
Variation "velor": wool short, thin, soft. Standing and a tail wool can be longer. Variation "brush": waved, rigid to the touch wool on all body, it is frequent with baldness sites on the head, the top part of a neck or on a back. "Brush" are used in breeding cultivation and can pass examination at exhibitions without award of title
SHORTCOMINGS: short, round or narrow head. Ears too reduced by the size, excessively corrugated and adjacent to a skull under the influence of the fold mutation of ear. Asymmetric by the size, a post and of addition ears. The narrow or too low put ears. Round or small eyes. The straightened profile. Weak chin. Easy frame. Too short body. Wide thorax. Admissible crossings with breeds: Straights of Ukrainian Levkoy, DonSphynx, Scottish Fold/straight and Household Pets, phenotypicaly corresponding to the morphological Ukrainian Levkoy type. Crossings of lop-eared Ukrainian Levkoy are among themselves forbidden because of its negative influence of a mutation of the put ear on musculo-skeletal system of posterity kittens
